Royal Enfield Unveils the Highly-Anticipated Interceptor Bear 650 with Scrambler Makeover

In a move that has generated much excitement among motorcycle enthusiasts, Royal Enfield has officially unveiled the Interceptor Bear 650. This new addition to the Royal Enfield lineup is based on the popular Interceptor 650 platform but has been redesigned to cater specifically to the scrambler style, combining both rugged capabilities and aesthetic appeal.

The Interceptor Bear 650 offers a fresh look, taking the retro-inspired Interceptor base to a more adventurous level. Standout styling elements include a new paint scheme, a redesigned exhaust system, and off-road-specific tyres that elevate its appeal. Additionally, the bike sports a scrambler-style seat and a number board on the side panels, further emphasizing its off-road potential. The lighting is fully LED, and the wheels come with a new set of MRF Nylorex off-road tyres, although the model does not include tubeless spoke wheels.

Key performance upgrades distinguish the Bear 650 from its predecessor. It is equipped with Showa USD forks—similar to those seen on the Royal Enfield Shotgun—though the internals have been customized to increase suspension travel, thereby raising the seat height. Braking components remain largely from the Interceptor but include a larger front brake disc for enhanced stopping power. Dual-channel ABS is standard, with an option to switch off the rear ABS for off-road use. Notably, the Bear 650 also debuts a full-color TFT screen, complete with an inbuilt navigation system, a first for this model.

Under the hood, the Bear 650 retains the same 650cc parallel-twin engine found in the Interceptor 650, delivering 47bhp of peak power. However, torque has been increased to 57Nm, offering nearly 5Nm more than the Interceptor. A redesigned two-into-one exhaust system has reduced the bike’s overall weight slightly, contributing to its improved maneuverability.

The Interceptor Bear 650 will be available in five distinct colors, with each color variant priced individually. Royal Enfield is set to officially launch the model on November 5, with a complete review also expected to go live on the same day. Enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to experience this long-anticipated addition to the Royal Enfield lineup, which promises both style and substance for scrambler fans.
