Rs 1,500 Crore Allocated for Musi River Beautification

The Telangana Congress government has earmarked Rs 1,500 crore for its ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project. Presenting the budget for 2024-25 in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the project’s significance as a top priority for the government.

The Musi Riverfront Development Project aims to rejuvenate the ecosystem surrounding the Musi River and enhance 110 km of urban area along its banks. Bhatti highlighted the project’s potential to address complex water management issues while improving infrastructure in an environmentally sustainable manner.

“The Musi Riverfront Development Project will feature recreation zones, people’s plazas, children’s theme parks, and entertainment zones,” Bhatti stated. He noted that the initiative aims to establish economic zones, enhance living standards, protect heritage and culture, improve the city’s image, and boost infrastructure.

To support the project, a socio-economic and employment survey is already underway, conducted by 33 teams from the Revenue Department. Bhatti drew parallels between the Musi Riverfront Development and the Thames Riverfront Project in London, expressing confidence that the Musi initiative would become a landmark achievement for Hyderabad and a model for similar projects across the nation.

“The development of the Musi will be done on the lines of the Thames Riverfront Project in London. This project will be a milestone in the history of Hyderabad and it will be an apt model for replication across the country,” Bhatti said.

The Telangana Congress government is committed to transforming the Musi Riverfront, fostering economic growth, and elevating the overall quality of life for the city’s residents through this comprehensive development project.
