Rs.7,300 crore to be released under Rythu Bandhu Scheme from Dec 27

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao made an array of decisions related to farming operations on Monday that included financial assistance to farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.

The news comes amidst the CM’s full support to the agitating farmers in Delhi, protesting against the controversial 3 new farm laws brought out by the Centre’s ruling NDA.

As part of the scheme meant for the benefit of farmers, KCR has directed the Finance Department officials to release Rs. 7,300 crores that will be distributed amongst the field-sowers beginning December 27th.

The aid will be given over a time period of 10 days, stretching from December 27-January 7, in order for it to reach every farmer, read the official notification.

Expressing his backing to the farmers, KCR had said that he and his party, TRS, will be actively supporting Tuesday’s Bharat Bandh.

The amount will be directly deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers instead of sending out cash, according to the orders given by Telangana Rashtra Samithi’s chief and state’s CM KCR to the officials.

During the meeting held at Pragathi Bhavan in the state, he also instructed the concerned authorities to begin the scheme from farmers who own smaller lands and continue to conclude it with farmers having larger holdings. Anyhow, the aid is to be given to the farmers within 10 days, his release highlighted.

Another notice released by the CMO spoke about the CM’s directions to officials to design a brand image for the estate-grown rich quality cotton that continues to be a plus-point of Telangana. He intends to develop a global demand for the state’s cotton through the processing and implementation of strategies for publicizing and emphasizing on the great qualities that the commodity possesses.

The CM wanted the agriculture department to organize a conference with all the experts and specialists in the field, the release further stated.

Simultaneously, he also gave his approval for the Oil Palm Crop Extension project, which costs Rs. 4,800 crore. KCR, while giving a green signal to the release of the amount, announced 50% subsidy to be given to the farmers for cultivating oil palm in Telangana.

“Oil palm cultivation is possible only in areas where there is continuous availability of water for cultivation. Due to increase in irrigation water facility and 24×7 uninterrupted power supply in the State, farmers should utilize the opportunity and go in for oil palm cultivation in a big way,” he said.

Besides this, the National Reassessment Committee has formulated a list noting the names of 25 districts in the state that are appropriate to cultivate oil palm in, Mr. Rao disclosed.
