Hyderabad: To reduce the traffic woes of residents of Malkajgiri and surrounding areas who have been demanding bridges at railway crossings for over two decade, a four lanes Road under Bridge (RuB) was proposed to come up at East Anandbagh.
The roads and buildings (R&B) department and GHMC together took up the task to construct RuB at East Anandbagh. The plan was to complete the RUB within 24 months after commencement of the work. The funds have been allocated, the work has started in full pace.
However, for construction the GHMC had to acquire several properties. Some of the aggrieved citizens who objected the design proposed by the R&B department approached High Court and obtained stay order on the acquisition of properties, shifting of water pipelines and other utilities.
This issue which is on hold since then was turning out to be a pain point for the corporation. The issue needed a quick solution to save the image of the Corporation.
In order to expedite the works of the RUB at Anandbagh, the Zonal Commissioner, Secunderabad Zone and the Chief City Planner, GHMC discussed in length with the CE (R&B) and explained the new proposal to change the alignment of RUB taking the existing road as criteria without affecting the properties. A detailed map was drawn avoiding curves so that the alignment with respect to centre of the road is taken into consideration and no acquisition of properties is required. The Chief Engineer, Roads & Buildings seems fully convinced by the new proposals submitted by GHMC.
This proactive initiative if takes shape saves time, effort and money to the corporation. The corporation saves an amount of Rs.3.85 Crs appox. on land acquisition of 18 properties and also saves valuable time on court litigations.
Such a step was possible only because of officers like C.N.Raghu Prasad, ZC, Secunderabad, .S.Devender Reddy,CCP, GHMC andP. Satish, Chief Engineer, R&B who are fully devoted to their jobs and implementing principles like ACT NOW, I LOVE MY JOB and proactively taking every challenge to a logical ending.
Dr. B.Janardhan Reddy, Commissioner, GHMC appreciates the contributions and the manner in which all the officers handled their responsibilities to provide a timely, qualitative solution which will play a significant role in the success of not just the project and corporation but also the citizens of Malkajgiri.
