After receiving a report that a worm was detected in a meal box ordered through the Zomato food delivery app, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation fined Sainikpuri restaurant Rs 5,000.
The customer had ordered a Rice Pongal lunch from Sri Raghavendra Hotel in the Sainikpuri neighbourhood using the Zomato app.
The customer discovered a worm in the food box when he opened it to eat it. He took to Twitter right away to share photos of a worm in the food box. The customer urged harsh action against the food store, tagging the GHMC in his tweet.

The GHMC team responded to the complainant’s tweet after taking note of the situation. Following a thorough investigation, a GHMC inspector visited the hotel and imposed a Rs 5,000 punishment for the hotel’s kitchen’s lack of hygiene. Meanwhile, Zomato customer support answered immediately and offered the customer a free lunch in exchange for their troubles. The complaint afterwards expressed gratitude to both the GHMC and Zomato teams for their prompt response and action.
The GHMC, Serilingampally zone, has penalised the Khajaguda Karachi Bakery Rs 10,000 for unsanitary conditions on its premises, failure to observe Covid regulations, the use of plastics, and the lack of a silt chamber, and waste segregation. KS Ravi, Circle Assistant Medical Officer of Health (AMOH), discovered the infractions during an inspection. the bakery was fined for a range of offences, including the use of plastics and a violation of the Covid protocol, among others.
