The much-anticipated trailer of Salman Khan’s upcoming film Sikandar was finally unveiled, but one topic that has sparked debate is the significant age gap between its lead pair. Salman, 59, is paired opposite Rashmika Mandanna, 28, in the AR Murugadoss directorial, and the 31-year difference has drawn criticism from fans and critics alike.
Addressing the controversy head-on at the trailer launch event, Salman shut down the age-gap critics with his trademark wit. He questioned why people were bothered when Rashmika herself had no issue with it. “Jab heroine ko problem nahi ho rahi toh aapko kyu ho rahi hai? Inki shadi hogi, bachchi hogi, toh unke sath bhi kaam karenge. Mummy ka permission toh mil hi jaega (When the heroine doesn’t have a problem, why do you have a problem? When she gets married and has a daughter, I will work even with her daughter. Mom will give permission),” he quipped.
Despite the criticism, Salman had nothing but praise for Rashmika’s dedication to her craft. He highlighted her commitment, recalling how she balanced Sikandar with Pushpa 2, shooting late into the night despite injuries. “She reminds me of my younger self,” he added.

The film Sikandar, set for release later this year, continues Salman Khan’s legacy of working with younger actresses, a trend often debated in Bollywood. However, with Salman’s unapologetic stance, it’s clear that such criticism won’t affect his choices.
