Salman Khan Reveals Ambition to Remake Sholay

Prime Video’s newly launched docuseries *Angry Young Men* has captivated audiences with its exploration of the revolutionary careers of iconic screenwriters Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar. The series, which debuted on August 20, delves into how Salim-Javed reshaped Hindi cinema with their groundbreaking work.

Adding to the excitement, Prime Video has released a special roundtable discussion on YouTube featuring the legendary duo, their families, and key figures from the series. The session, hosted by Farah Khan, includes Salim Khan’s son, superstar Salman Khan, and Javed Akhtar’s children — actor-director Farhan Akhtar and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. Namrata Rao, the director of *Angry Young Men*, also participated in the conversation.

During the roundtable, a standout moment occurred when Farah Khan asked Salman Khan which Salim-Javed film he would choose to remake if given the chance. Salman, known for his dynamic acting career, revealed that he would pick the classic *Sholay*. His choice of *Sholay* — one of Bollywood’s most iconic films — was met with enthusiasm.

Farah Khan followed up by asking whether Salman would prefer to play Jai or Veeru from *Sholay*. Amitabh Bachchan originally portrayed Jai, while Dharmendra played Veeru in the Ramesh Sippy-directed blockbuster. Before Salman could answer, the roundtable participants spoke on his behalf, suggesting that Salman would be ideal as Veeru. Javed Akhtar agreed with this assessment. Salman, however, added a playful twist, expressing that he could also take on the role of Jai and even the infamous villain Gabbar.

*Angry Young Men*, produced by Excel Media and Entertainment, Salman Khan Films, and Tiger Baby, provides an in-depth look at Salim-Javed’s influential careers and their lasting legacy in Indian cinema. Salman’s revelation about wanting to remake *Sholay* has further fueled interest in the series and highlighted his ongoing connection to the classics of Bollywood.
