In a fiery post on social media, filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga appeared to lash out at Deepika Padukone for allegedly “ousting” the script of his upcoming film Spirit and undermining Triptii Dimri, who has now replaced her as the female lead opposite Prabhas.
Although Sandeep didn’t directly name Deepika, his post on X (formerly Twitter) late Monday night left little doubt about the target of his scathing remarks. His cryptic but pointed statements hinted at behind-the-scenes conflict, branding the episode as “dirty PR games” and expressing deep disappointment over a broken bond of trust.
“When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are…. Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for?” Sandeep wrote.

He further called on the actress to reveal the full script to the public, seemingly accusing her of misrepresenting the narrative.
“You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it… Agli baar poori kahani bolna… kyunki mujhe jarra bhi farak nahi padtha (Next time tell the whole story… because I don’t care at all),” he added, closing the post with the Hindi proverb, “Khundak mein billi khamba noche” — implying that jealousy leads to irrational reactions.
This outburst follows a Pinkvilla report which revealed that Spirit features bold content, including A-rated action and intense sequences, alongside typical massy Telugu entertainment elements. Sources suggest Sandeep was keen on casting an actress who would be “comfortable” with the film’s demands and highlighted that he has assured a “professional and comfortable environment” for Triptii Dimri on set.
Dimri, who previously worked with Sandeep in the blockbuster Animal, expressed her joy on Instagram, writing:
“Still sinking in. I’m so grateful to be trusted with this journey. Thank you, @sandeepreddy.vanga. I’m honoured to be a part of your vision.”
Originally, Deepika Padukone was expected to play the female lead in Spirit, a project jointly produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. Her departure and the director’s explosive reaction have now added a layer of controversy around the film, which already boasts high anticipation due to its lead star Prabhas and Vanga’s cult following.
