In a significant step to enhance the safety, security, and convenience of Hajj pilgrims, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior on Tuesday released a comprehensive guide detailing essential instructions and guidelines for the pilgrimage.
The guide aims to assist millions of pilgrims expected to perform Hajj by providing directions to the Grand Mosque in Makkah, along with maps of pedestrian walkways to important ritual sites such as Tawaf and Sa’i zones. The ministry emphasized that the guide is tailored to ensure a smooth and peaceful pilgrimage experience.
To effectively manage crowds, the guide identifies peak congestion periods within the Grand Mosque and its surrounding courtyards, and outlines vehicle-use guidelines during the Hajj season. It also explains crowd-management protocols to minimize chaos and maintain order.
Pilgrims are urged to strictly follow designated grouping times during each ritual—Tawaf, Sa’i, and the stoning of the Jamarat—to avoid overcrowding and enhance coordination.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated that all pilgrims must possess official Hajj permits and warned of strict penalties for violations. Unauthorized individuals attempting to perform Hajj without a valid permit could face legal consequences.
The public, including Saudi citizens and residents, is encouraged to report any violations by contacting 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, or 999 in other regions of the Kingdom.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the ministry’s goal is to ensure that all pilgrims perform their religious duties with ease, safety, and peace of mind, supported by advanced crowd control and regulatory enforcement.
