SCCL ex-employee held by ACB for graft & sent to jail

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau today arrested Singareni trade union leader and former Assistant Superintendent working with SCCL in Bhadradri-Kothagudem district for demanding and accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe in June last year for doing a favour.

According to a pressnote from the ACB Director-General, complainant Alli Prakash Rao on coming to know that his medical invalidation and compassionate appointment of his son were given on genuine grounds by the SCCL, he lodged a complaint with the ACB, who registered a case and took up investigation. The ACB DG further stated that G K Sampath Kumar was involved in collection of money from several Singareni workers for getting their transfers done. Due to his corrupt practices, the SCCL management terminated his service in December 2018.

Today, Sampath Kumar was produced before the ACB Court, which sent him to Chanchalguda central jail for judicial custody. The ACB sleuths also conducted searches in the houses of Sampath Kumar, his brother and his associates in Kothagudem. (NSS)
