Schools in Hyderabad Take Precautionary Measures Amidst Rising Fever Cases

With a surge in dengue and viral fever cases affecting the twin cities (Hyderabad and Secundrabad), schools across Hyderabad have adopted a heightened state of caution to protect students’ health. Both government and private institutions are urging parents to take additional precautions and keep children at home if they exhibit symptoms such as high fever, cold, and cough.

In recent days, attendance in several schools has dropped by approximately 20% due to the increase in fever cases among students. School principals are actively communicating with parents, advising them not to send their children to school if they are unwell. Notifications have been sent via email and SMS, emphasizing the need for vigilance and prompt action to prevent the spread of illness.

One prominent school in Secunderabad recently issued a communication to parents underscoring the importance of student health in light of the recent spike in fever cases. The message highlighted the school’s commitment to ensuring the well-being of students and urged parents to keep sick children at home. “Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated,” the school management stated. The communication also included guidelines on precautionary measures for managing viral infections, dengue, chikungunya, and hand, foot, and mouth disease.

Hyderabad District Education Officer R. Rohini addressed the media on Friday, noting that government schools are implementing measures to safeguard student health. “We are focusing on clearing stagnant rainwater on school premises to mitigate mosquito-borne diseases. Given the increase in fever cases, we have observed a significant drop in attendance, with a decline of over 20% in the past ten days,” she reported.

The rising health concerns underscore the importance of preventive measures and community cooperation in managing the current health crisis. Schools are taking proactive steps to ensure a safe environment for students, but the role of parents in monitoring their children’s health remains crucial.
