Security measures Increased around Charminar ahead of BJP leaders’ visits

Police have increased patrols around Charminar and its vicinities in anticipation of several important Bharatiya Janata Party leaders visiting the Bhagyalakshmi temple. On Saturday afternoon, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was scheduled to visit the Bhagyalakshmi temple in Charminar. The visit, however, was later rescheduled.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) P Sai Chaitanya and other police officials arrived at Charminar and reviewed the security arrangements. While there has been no official word on the UP CM’s visit, officials are prepared for it.

Several other BJP party leaders had visited the temple in the previous two days and offered prayers.

According to Hyderabad police sources, the Intelligence Bureau advised Yogi Adityanath not to visit the Bhagya Laxmi temple at Charminar due to recent developments in the country following the Nupur Sharma controversy. Telangana BJP leaders were reportedly unsure whether the UP chief minister would visit the temple even on Sunday.

The Hyderabad police had previously asked business owners in the Charminar area to close their shops until 3 p.m. until the majority of the VVIPs who are provided Z category security visit and leave the area.

TRS-BJP poster war heats up in Hyderabad

For the past few days, the TRS has reserved all major hoardings and advertisement panels on the Hyderabad metro rail pillars to publicize the achievements of the state government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, ostensibly to deny the BJP the opportunity to publicize its national executive meeting, which will be followed by a public rally at Secunderabad parade grounds.

To attract people, the BJP virtually painted the city saffron by erecting wall posters, huge cut-outs, buntings, banners, and flag posts at every corner and main thoroughfare.

The BJP set up a large hoarding near the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee building, the party’s headquarters in Nampally, with a picture of the chief minister and the slogan “Salu Dora, Sampaku Dora” (Enough of your trouble, boss).
