Telangana Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said Telangana State became a seed bowl of India with more food grains production and surpassing Punjab and other States.
“With a plan and vision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao we achieved significant development”, he claimed. He said the staff of a seed testing center in Hyderabad will provide better services to the farmers.
The Agriculture Minister inaugurated a seed testing and certification center at Professor Jayashankar Agriculture University in Rajendranagar here. He visited the lab and inquired with the staff about the methods of testing and certification of the seeds. With the new facility in the city, the agriculture sector and farmers will get timely help and support of quality seeds and certification, he said. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been focusing on the quality of seeds, more cultivation, with better irrigation facilities, he added.
With support and irrigation projects, Telangana achieved sowing in one crore acres and grew three lakh metric tons of paddy besides became top in cotton production and others. The State surpassed Punjab in paddy cultivation and seeds are being exported to 70 to 80 nations, he claimed.

He attributed this development to the vision and commitment of the Chief Minister. Seed companies and farmers will vouch for better farming activities and push for farm production, he said. Rythu Bandhu, rythu bhima and rythu vedikas are proving handy as only Telangana gives 24 hours power supply to the farming sector. We have to use better quality seeds for better food grains, he added.
