Hyderabad: The 18th All India Conference of Senior Citizens was held today at Classic Gardens, Secunderabad. More than 2000 delegates from across the country attended the conference.
Speaking on the topic of “Keeping the elderly safe in the 21st Century”, Shikha Goel, IPS, Addl. Commissioner of Police, Crimes & SIT, explained about the various provisions of Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007. She also explained about various initiatives taken by the Hyderabad City Police for safety and security of senior citizens, including collaboration with “Help Age India”, tie up with Old Age homes, legal experts and counsellors. She also informed the gathering that the She Teams and Bharosa Centre provide assistance to all women, including senior citizens. She exhorted the senior citizens to install CCTVs at their residence and locality as a safety measure. (NSS)
