A bizarre and dramatic love story has emerged from Manoharpur village in the Mundarik police station area of Aligarh, where a woman allegedly eloped with her would-be son-in-law just nine days before his wedding to her daughter.
The woman, identified as the wife of Jitendra Kumar, reportedly fled with Rahul, the groom-to-be, leaving the entire family in shock. According to police and media reports, the woman had earlier stayed alone at Rahul’s residence in Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur for five days under the pretext of checking on his health.
On March 1, she told her husband that Rahul was unwell and she was going to visit him. Jitendra assumed she was simply fulfilling her duties as a concerned mother-in-law. However, she stayed with Rahul for five days without informing anyone, eventually returning to the village accompanied by him. Rahul dropped her near a primary school in the village and left. At the time, nobody suspected anything unusual. But the very next day, the two vanished—together.

Following their disappearance, Jitendra filed a missing person’s report at the local police station. In the complaint, he revealed that not only had his wife eloped with his daughter’s fiancé, but also taken away ₹5 lakh worth of gold jewelry and ₹3 lakh in cash that was saved for the wedding.
“My daughter’s wedding was scheduled for April 16. I had gathered dowry items, gold, and cash for her future. I never imagined my wife would do something like this. I’m still in disbelief,” Jitendra said.
Police investigations led to their last known location being traced near Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, where Rahul worked. Deputy SP Mahesh Kumar confirmed the information but stated that the police have not been able to locate or apprehend the couple yet. Their mobile phones are switched off, complicating tracking efforts.
The engagement between Rahul and the daughter was already formalized, and wedding cards had been distributed. The incident has left the bride-to-be and her family devastated.
The police continue their efforts to trace the missing duo while the unusual case has captured widespread media attention, sparking discussions both online and in the local community.
