The grand opening of Hyderabad LuLu Mall took an unexpected turn as unruly groups of shoppers unleashed chaos within the premises, leading to the looting and destruction of food items. Shocking visuals of empty and partially consumed food items strewn across the mall’s storage racks quickly spread across various social media platforms, leaving people in disbelief.
LuLu Mall, located in Kukatpally Hyderabad, had a grand inauguration on September 27, attracting a massive crowd eager to explore this expansive shopping destination. However, the celebration soon turned chaotic.
Eyewitnesses and security personnel at the scene reported that a section of the crowd engaged in destructive behavior, specifically targeting packaged goods and beverages. Shelves containing various products were ransacked, with numerous items being opened, consumed, and then discarded within the mall.

Samosas, biscuits, soft drinks, fruits, and other consumables were among the food items that customers either devoured or partially consumed before thoughtlessly discarding them on the mall’s floors. The destruction extended to bottles, empty wrappers, and other food-related packaging scattered throughout the premises.
Despite the presence of security measures, including CCTV cameras, it became apparent that they were insufficient in preventing the unfolding chaos. Authorities on-site struggled to regain control of the situation.
This unexpected turn of events during the LuLu Mall’s grand opening left both organizers and the public in shock, prompting discussions about the need for enhanced security measures and responsible behavior among shoppers.
The Lulu group reiterated its commitment to invest Rs.3,500 crore in the Telangana state over the next three years.
Telangana’s Minister for Industry KT Rama Rao inaugurated the mall spread over 500,000 square feet. Lulu Group Chairman Yusuff Ali said they were committed to investing Rs.3,500 crore over the next three years in Telangana. The investment will be in a destination shopping mall, mini-malls, and agriculture sourcing, logistics, and processing hub for facilitating 100 percent exports.
