Shops in Hyderabad to remain closed in protest of Raja Singh’s comments

As per the latest reports, several markets in Hyderabad remain closed as a protest against Raja Singh’s comments.

Nearly all shops were closed in the Nampally market. There has been a demand from the traders for legal action against the MLA.

As a result, traders insist that authorities must take action against the MLA and prove that no one is above the law.

Police take Raja Singh into custody

After derogatory remarks were made about Prophet Muhammad, Hyderabad police arrested the MLA this morning.

In a video posted to the Jai Shree Ram channel on YouTube, Raja Singh made derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad. He also abused comedian Munawar Faruqui and his mother two days after the comedian’s show in Hyderabad.

BJP disassociated itself from the MLA’s statement after the video triggered protests. Krishna Saagar Rao, the BJP chief spokesperson for Telangana, reportedly said that the party respects all religions and faiths.

Telangana placed on high alert

Telangana is on high alert following the remarks made by the MLA. There have been a large number of police deployed in the city at important locations. There have also been deployments of Telangana State Special Police, Greyhounds, and police from neighboring districts and the Rapid Action Force.

Also, pickets have been posted in the old city and communally sensitive areas in Hyderabad.

Protests broke out in front of city Police Commissioner CV Anand’s office and other parts of Hyderabad on Monday night, according to various reports. Many All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislators and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation corporators marched to police stations to demand strict action against Raja Singh.

Singh’s controversial remarks come just months after former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma sparked a massive diplomatic backlash with her remarks about the Prophet. The BJP suspended Nupur Sharma, and 10 cases were filed against her across the country.
