Shortly after release, two accused in TRS MLAs poaching case re-arrested

The two accused in the TRS MLAs poaching case were re-arrested on Thursday shortly after their release in connection with other cases filed against them.

Banjara Hills police arrested Ramachandra Bharathi and K. Nanda Kumar shortly after they were released on bail from Chanchalguda Central Prison.

They will most likely be brought before a court later in the day.

While Ramachandra Bharati was booked for possessing multiple passports, Aadhaar cards, and other documents, five cases were registered against Nanda Kumar for cheating and other offenses.

On December 1, the Telangana High Court granted bail to all three accused in the MLA poaching case. They were imprisoned for a week because they were unable to arrange two sureties and a personal bond for Rs 3 lakhs as ordered by the court. Simhayaji was freed on Wednesday.

Ramachandra Bharati was arrested by Banjara Hills police after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) discovered that he possessed two passports.

The police charged him with forgery of valuable security, will, etc., 467 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) as well as sections 12 of the Passports Act, 1967.

The accused is in possession of two passports, one in the name of Shree Ramachandra Swami Ji and the other in the name of Bharat Kumar Sharma.

He had previously been booked for forgery. Banjara Hills police had registered a case for possessing fake Aadhaar, PAN cards, and driving licenses after receiving a complaint from one of the TRS MLAs, Pilot Rohit Reddy.

Ramachandra Bharati, a priest from Faridabad in Haryana, is said to have close ties with some top BJP leaders.

On October 26, Cyberabad police arrested Ramachandra Bharati, Simhayaji, a pontiff from Tirupati, and Nanda Kumar, a businessman in Hyderabad, during a raid on a farm house in Moinabad, near Hyderabad.

The arrests were made following a tip from Pilot Rohit Reddy, who claimed that the accused offered him Rs 100 crore and Rs 50 crore to three others. The accused were charged under various sections of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Five cases were also registered against Nanda Kumar at various police stations throughout the city.

A case was also filed against him under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act after a person complained that he took a Rs 80 lakh loan from him but failed to return it and even abused him in the name of his caste.
