‘Snack Box’ introduced by TSRTC for distant travelers

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has decided to provide passengers traveling distant places with a snack box along with the bus ticket. The corporation, which already provides water bottles in air-conditioned bus services, is planning to provide fresh snack boxes.

The snack box system will begin as a pilot project on Saturday in nine electric ‘e-Garuda’ buses operating on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route. Depending on how passengers response, this will be expanded to other services in the future.

This snack box includes sweet and spicy delicacies, as well as tissue paper and mouth freshener. The TSRTC has set a nominal price of Rs.30 for the snack box in the ticket rate.

“TSRTC is moving forward with innovative programs to reach out to the people. As part of that, it was decided to give snack boxes to travelers,” said TSRTC Chairman Bajireddy Govardhan.

Each snack box has a QR code, which travelers are advised to scan on their phones to give advice and suggestions.

“Considering passenger feedback, changes and additions will be made in the snack and extended to the rest of the services,” said TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar.

TSRTC announces ‘General Route Pass’ to general public

The General Route Pass, which was previously only available to students, will now be available to the general public within the Greater Hyderabad zone for the first time, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) announced on Thursday.

The corporation which is currently providing special concessions to passengers with T-24, T-6 and F-24 tickets has designed this route pass for those traveling short distances. Applicable for travel within 8 km, it will be available to passengers from May 27.

TSRTC has set the price of Rs.600 for City Ordinary Route Bus Pass and Rs.1000 for Metro Express Route Pass applicable for a month. In addition to this price, an additional Rs.50 is required for the ID card.

“In the first phase, this pass will be given to passengers on 162 routes in Hyderabad. The corporation has provided an unlimited number of buses within the 8 km radius of these route passes. You can travel with this pass on Sundays as well as on holidays,” said a senior TSRTC official.
