Sonia Approves Padmavathi’s name for Huzurnagar Assembly seat

Hyderabad : The Congress President, Sonia Gandhi has approved the candidature of Padmavathi Reddy as Congress candidate for the  bye-election to the Telangana  Legislative Assembly  from  Huzurnagar Constituency, a press note released by Mukul Wasnik, General Secretary in-charge CEC said.

46-year old Padmavathi Reddy, former MLA, is the wife of  N. Uttam Kumar Reddy,  TPCC Chief of Telangana. She was representing  Kodad Assembly Constituency. From the time her husband Uttam Kumar Reddy entered politics in 1994, she has  been involved in all the election campaigns.

It may be recalled that Uttam Kumar Reddy was elected to Assembly from Huzurnagar in the 2018 elections, but quit the seat after his election as M P from Nalgonda.

There was some suspense earlier in regard to the party candidate for the Assembly seat as the senior congress leader and M P,  A Revanth Reddy favoured that Shyamala Kiran Reddy be given the ticket. Other leaders of the party, however, opposed Revanth’s plea and supported Padmavathi’s candidature.  (NSS)Hyderabad
