The southwest monsoon is making rapid progress and is expected to arrive in Telangana earlier than usual, bringing much-needed relief from the summer heat. The monsoon officially hit Kerala on May 24—eight days ahead of its normal onset date of June 1—marking a promising start to the rainy season.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon advanced further on May 25 into several regions, including more parts of the west-central and east-central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, Goa, parts of Maharashtra, the north Bay of Bengal, as well as Mizoram, Manipur, and Nagaland.
In anticipation of its arrival in Telangana, the IMD Hyderabad has issued a four-day rain alert across various districts, including the state capital. The forecast predicts heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls through May 29. A yellow alert has been issued, warning of potentially moderate to intense weather activity.

The advancing monsoon is likely to bring widespread showers and a significant drop in temperatures, offering residents relief from the scorching summer. The early arrival also bodes well for agriculture and water resource planning in the region.
