Hyderabad : The Union Tourism Ministry presents National Tourism Awards to various segments of the travel and tourism industry every year. These awards are presented to State governments, Union Territories, classified hotels, heritage hotels, approved travel agents, tour operators and tourist transport operators, individuals and other private organizations in recognition of their performance in their respective fields and also to encourage healthy competition with an aim to promote tourism.
The Government of Telangana has received National Tourism Awards under various categories consecutively for the past four years. This year, it received the following National Tourism Awards. Explore Telangana mobile app in Most Innovative use of IT – Social Media/Mobile App/website; Apollo Hospitals in Best Medical Tourism Facility.
The awards presentation ceremony was organized by Union Ministry of Tourism on September 27 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi on the occasion of “World Tourism Day Celebrations 2019”.
Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu presented the awards to the winners. He was accompanied by Minister of State, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Prahalad Singh Patel. Telangana Minister for Prohibition & Excise, Sports & Youth Services, Tourism & Culture and Archaeology V. Srinivas Goud; Principal Secretary C. Parthasarathi, I.A.S.; Commissioner of Tourism Sunita M Bhagwat, I.F.S. and Managing Director (FAC), Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation, B. Manohar, have received the award. (NSS)
