Vijayawada: Tension prevailed at the NTR Health University today when the students staged a dharna alleging that injustice was meted out to the reservation students in Medical counseling.
The unions tried to lay a siege to the university at one stage, but the police obstructed their efforts leading to heated arguments and jostling between the police and students. The police arrested the leaders of the students unions. Protesting the attitude of the police officials, one of the student union leaders tried self immolation with kerosene. But the fellow students thwarted his efforts successfully. (NSS)
