At least 19 people died in a suicide bombing in the Afghan city of Jalalabad Sunday afternoon during a visit from President Ashraf Ghani, officials said.
Police chief of Nangarhar, Ghulam Sanayi Stanekzai, said the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber who targeted a vehicle carrying members of the Sikh minority who were travelling to meet President Ashraf Ghani.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Taliban and an Islamic State affiliate are active in the province.
