Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2025 Squad: A Balanced Lineup with Key Strengths

As the IPL 2025 season draws closer, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has put together a squad that blends youth and experience, with several exciting prospects, but also some areas that might raise concerns as they gear up for the new season.

The SRH team has made key acquisitions in the IPL 2025 auction, with captain Pat Cummins at the helm of a diverse lineup. While their squad has several players who can make an impact with both bat and ball, the balance between top-order batting strength and bowling depth will be crucial for their success.

Batting: Solid Depth but Some Inconsistencies

The strength of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting lies in the middle order, where players like Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Ishan Kishan add a mix of aggression and stability. Head’s explosive stroke play, Klaasen’s ability to finish innings, and Kishan’s natural flair make the middle order a strong point. However, questions remain about the top order, where SRH lacks a proven, consistent run-scorer at the opening position. While Abhishek Sharma has shown promise, he still has a lot to prove in high-pressure situations.

The team also features young talents like Nitish Reddy, Abhinav Manohar, and Sachin Baby who can add depth but may lack the experience needed to anchor innings during crunch moments. This leaves SRH relying heavily on their more experienced players to lead the charge in the early overs, making their top-order somewhat unpredictable.

Bowling: Star Power but Limited Depth

SRH’s bowling attack, led by Pat Cummins and Mohammad Shami, has the potential to be one of the tournament’s best. Cummins’ leadership skills and ability to bowl under pressure, combined with Shami’s swing and experience, form a potent fast-bowling pair. The squad also boasts quality spinners like Rahul Chahar and Adam Zampa, who can control the game in the middle overs and take crucial wickets.

However, while the frontline bowling attack is strong, SRH’s depth is a concern. The pace attack lacks proven backup options, and Simarjeet Singh and Brydon Carse will have to prove their mettle in high-pressure situations. Additionally, SRH’s spin department relies heavily on Chahar and Zampa, with limited variety beyond them. This could prove to be a disadvantage if teams target their spinners on flat tracks.

While Sunrisers Hyderabad has a well-balanced squad, they have areas that need improvement if they are to challenge for the IPL 2025 title. Their batting depth looks strong on paper, but the lack of consistency in the top order could be a problem. Similarly, while their bowling attack has firepower, the team could struggle if key bowlers like Cummins and Shami fail to deliver.

If SRH can find the right combinations in their batting lineup and have their pacers and spinners firing consistently, they could be a formidable force. However, the team’s reliance on a few star players and the relative inexperience of their younger talents might hold them back in tight situations. It will be interesting to see how their squad comes together in the upcoming season, with a mix of potential and challenges ahead.
