The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia has called on Muslims across the Kingdom to observe the sky on the evening of Tuesday, May 27, to sight the crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah — the Islamic month during which Hajj is performed, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Tuesday marks the 29th day of Dhul Qadah. If the crescent is sighted that evening, the first day of Dhul Hijjah will fall on Wednesday, May 28. Accordingly, Eid Al-Adha 2025 would be observed on Friday, June 6.
However, if the crescent is not sighted on Tuesday evening, then Dhul Hijjah will begin on Thursday, May 29, and Eid Al-Adha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7.

The Supreme Court urged anyone who sees the crescent moon — whether with the naked eye or through binoculars — to promptly report it to the nearest court and provide their testimony. Those unable to reach a court directly are encouraged to contact the nearest relevant center for assistance.
This annual call to sight the moon is critical to determining the Hajj and Eid Al-Adha dates, both of which are deeply significant in the Islamic calendar.
