Surekha Served Notices Over Naga Chaitanya Divorce Remarks

A city court has issued notices to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, asking her to submit an explanation regarding her controversial remarks on the divorce of noted film actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The notices were issued in response to a criminal defamation case filed by Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya’s father, in the Nampally court.

The Nampally Special Magistrate Court adjourned the next hearing to October 23 after a second witness, Venkateswara, completed his testimony in the case. The complainant alleged that the Minister’s comments were aimed at damaging the social reputation of the Akkineni family. Nagarjuna has sought both criminal and civil defamation charges and financial compensation for the damage caused.

Surekha had stirred controversy by linking the divorce of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha to BRS working president KT Rama Rao, alleging that KTR had sought inappropriate favors from the Akkineni family before the demolition of their family-owned N-Convention Centre. She had also claimed that “many heroines have left the film industry quickly due to KTR’s influence on their lives.”

Her remarks drew strong condemnation from the film industry, with prominent actors like Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, and Nani, as well as film directors and producers, voicing their disapproval and calling her comments “derogatory.”
