Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday described the sudden death of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj as a great loss to the country. He said Sushma Swaraj played a crucial role in the formation of separate Telangana state along with the Congress party.
In a condolence statement here, Uttam Kumar Reddy said Sushma lovingly called as Chinnamma (younger aunt) of the Telangana State. He expressed his deep grief and conveyed condolences to the kin of the former Union minister and prayed that her soul rest in peace.
Sushmaji helped carve Telangana State: Nagam
Congress leader and former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy said the former Union minister Sushma Swaraj played a pivotal role in the formation of Telangana State. He said he was greatly pained at the sudden death of Sushma Swaraj at the national capital.
Recalling the important role played by the departed leader in the passage of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill of 2014 in Parliament, Nagam described Sushma Swaraj as a daring woman leader. He also said Sushmaji had opposed declaration of the Hyderabad as a Union territory. He said Sushmaji fulfilled the dreams of crores of people of Telangana State and the people of the State would remember her forever. He also demanded that the State government install a statue of Sushma Swaraj in Hyderabad. (NSS)
