Russian President Vladimir Putin today said, the tragic accidental circumstances led to the downing of a Russian warplane by Syria with 15 people on board.
Talking to mediapersons in Moscow, Mr Putin said, it rather looks like a chain of tragic accidental circumstances.
The Russian president said, Israeli jet did not shoot down Russia military aircraft. However, earlier today, the Russian defence ministry blamed Israel for the accident and warned of reprisals.
Mr Putin further said, Moscow would beef up security for its military personnel in Syria as a priority response. He expressed condolences to the families of the victims. Yesterday, Syria accidentally shot down the Russian plane killing all 15 crew members on board.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military expressed sorrow for the deaths of Russian crew members and held the Assad regime in Syria fully responsible for the incident. Israel also held Iran and the Hezbollah terror organisation accountable for the tragic incident.
