Taliban Meets US & 7 Other Nations In Oslo

In a recent meeting Taliban delegation and representatives of the US and seven different countries discussions in Oslo which for the most part focused around Afghanistan’s economy, helpful guide to the conflict-torn nation, security, and medical care, as indicated by media reports.

Meeting Set For Three Days 

As indicated by the Taliban Foreign Ministry’s representative Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the meeting, set to keep going for three days, began on Monday and the leftover delegates were from the UK, Norway, Germany, Italy, France, Qatar, and the European Union (EU).

In a tweet, Balkhi said: “The meeting zeroed in on conversations on the economy, helpful guide, security, national bank activity, wellbeing, and other important issues. The conversations are underway, full report will follow.”

Continuous Humanitarian Emergency

A day prior to the meeting, the US special envoy for Afghanistan Thomas West on Sunday evening said that Washington and its partners were looking for ways of tending to the continuous humanitarian emergency.

“As we look to address (the) humanitarian emergency along with partners, accomplices, and alleviation associations, we will proceed with clear-peered toward tact with the Taliban in regards to our interests and our withstanding interest in a steady, rights-regarding and comprehensive Afghanistan,” he said.

Political experts accept that such meetings could assume an essential part in taking care of the issues in the country. “There is a need to make a productive stride inside Afghanistan for the arrangement of a comprehensive and maintainable government,” said teacher Sayed Baqir Mohseni.

Prior on Sunday, the Taliban met with individuals from the common society of Afghanistan, including ladies, and examined the continuous circumstance in Afghanistan.

The appointment, headed by acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, arrived in Norway on Saturday night. This is their first visit to Europe after the Taliban took over Afghanistan in August 2021.

Albeit the visit comes on an authority welcome by Norway, the public authority in Oslo has said it doesn’t address a legitimisation or acknowledgment of the Taliban.
