Tamil Nadu Allocates Rs 50 Crores for RT-PCR Kits from Rs 180 Crores CMPR Fund Amidst Lockdown

With the rising cases of Covid 19 and the following deaths, states have increased their testing capacity and procurement of medicines. Similarly, Tamil Nadu recently announced their plans for the amount received from the Chief Minister Public Relief Fund (CMPRF).

 

Tamil Nadu To Procure More RT PCR Kits For Rs 50 Crores

As per the latest reports, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K Stalin announced that they have received an amount of Rs 180 crores from the CMPRF. Following which, he has already sanctioned Rs 50 crores for the purchasing of RT-PCR testing kits.

Furthermore, he announced that Rs 25 crores have been allocated for the purchase of Remdesivir and other life saving medicines for Covid 19. And another 25 crores have been allocated for the purchase of liquid oxygen for hospitals.

Earlier, Stalin had appealed to the corporates and the general public to donate generously to the CMPRF as it would help the state government to fight against the pandemic virus.

Earlier, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had donated 100 Oxygen concentrators to the newly formed Covid 19 centers at the Government hospital, Saidapet. The oxygen concentrators were given over to KN Arun Kumar, the Sub-regional team leader of WHO to Stalin. The event occurred in the presence of Tamil Nadu Health Minister, M. Subramaniam.

Tamil Nadu Goes Under Lockdown For A Week, Starting Today

Tamil Nadu CM announced a total lockdown across the state for another week from today. This comes after the states recorded a dip in the number of daily active cases for the second consecutive day.

In the past 24 hours, the state has recorded 422 deaths and the toll has increased to 20,468 which is the fourth-highest in the country. And 35,483 people had tested positive. Furthermore, Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan revealed that the medical oxygen has been revised to 650 MT for the state.
