The farmers’ protest which erupted last year against the three farm bills passed by the parliament are far from over. The farmers in Central Tamil Nadu including the Trichy held protests in solidarity.
Tamil Nadu Protestors Show Solidarity to Farmers in the North
As per the latest reports, the farmers staged the protest for a call by the Samyuktha Kisan Morcha to observe May 26 as the black day. It marks the completion of six months of the farmers’ protests in North India who are demanding to repeal the farm laws.

Cadres of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M_ and the leaders and cadres of various other organisations like the Tamil Maanila Vivasaya Thozhilalar Sangam hoisted black flags on top of their homes in Thanjavur, Trichy and other districts of the central region of the state.
President of Desiya Thennidiya Nadigal Innaippu Vivasaiygal Sangam, P. Ayyakkannu spoke to the media. He said that they are expressing solidarity with the farmers of the North India. They are observing May 26 as the black day and have raised black flags on top of their homes. They also want the central government to repeal the anti-farmer laws with immediate effect.
Farmers Continue Protests in Delhi, Punjab
Farmers in Delhi and Punjab took out marches and raised anti-government slogans to observe May 26 as the black day for the six months of agitation against the agriculture laws. They put up black flags and burnt effigies of the government leaders at Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri in New Delhi.
Senior farmer leader Avtar Singh Mehma said black flags have been hoisted not only at the protest sites but also in villages in Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, adding that villagers have put up black flags atop their houses as well as on their vehicles.
