Teachers and Staff in Rangareddy and Vikarabad Model Schools Face Financial Crisis Due to Unpaid Salaries

Teachers and non-teaching staff across 18 model schools in the undivided Rangareddy district and Vikarabad are grappling with severe financial hardships as a result of unpaid salaries. The situation has become dire for outsourced workers, with many facing the prospect of mounting debt and financial instability.

Approximately 500 employees, including 224 regular teachers, 80 hourly-based educators, 72 outsourced staff, 36 vocational teachers, and 90 hostel employees, have not received their salaries for several months. According to sources, outsourced staff have gone without pay for five months, hostel employees for four months, and regular teachers and hourly-based educators for three months.

The financial strain has left the teaching and non-teaching staff struggling to meet basic financial obligations, including repaying debts and equated monthly installments (EMIs). The affected model schools, which are spread across Shabad, Shankarpally, Maheshwaram, Parigi, Vikarabad, and Pedemul mandals, have been providing quality education to hundreds of students. Many of these schools have attached hostels that accommodate girl students studying in Intermediate, who have also been impacted by the wage delays.

Hostel wardens and caretakers, responsible for the well-being of the students, have not received their monthly salaries of Rs 12,500 for the past four months. Similarly, salaries for other support staff, including watchmen (Rs 8,710), ANMs (Rs 7,800), head cooks (Rs 7,800), and assistant cooks (Rs 6,500), have also been pending for four months. This ongoing wage delay has left many families in a precarious position, with staff members expressing frustration and concern over the government’s inaction.

Despite repeated demands for timely payments through the treasury system, which would ensure that salaries are disbursed on the first of each month, the government has yet to implement this measure. The current system requires approval from the Finance Department every three months, leading to frequent delays and financial uncertainty for the staff.

Adding to their grievances, many teachers have been working in the same location for over 11 years without transfers. They are now demanding immediate transfers, citing the need for change and relief from financial distress. The situation has become so dire that the livelihoods of many staff members are at risk.

The staff of the Model School Inter-Hostels, in particular, are deeply concerned about the impact of these delays on their ability to provide for their families and maintain the standards of care for the students under their supervision. As the crisis deepens, the affected employees are urgently calling on the government to address the issue and ensure that all pending wages are paid without further delay.

The ongoing crisis has left many staff members hoping that the government will finally take the necessary steps to rectify the situation and ensure that they receive their rightful salaries on time, every month.
