Telangana’s Transport, Roads, and Buildings (Tr-I) Department has announced a limited-time discount offer on pending traffic challans in the state, which would be valid from December 26 to January 10, 2024.It has been stressed, however, that these discounts do not apply to all types of breaches.
The discounts differ depending on the vehicle category and the nature of the violation:
- Two-wheelers and automobiles: pay 20% of the challan amount to waive the remaining 80%.
- Push carts and small merchants (39b cases): pay 10% of the traffic challan amount to waive the remaining 90%.
- LMVs, cars, jeeps, and heavy vehicles: 40% of the challan amount must be paid in order to waive the remaining 60%.
- Drivers of the Road Transport Corporation (RTC): Paying 10% of the traffic challan amount waives the remaining 90%.
It should be noted that the discounts are only available for breaches committed before November 30, 2023. These discounts are not available for all types of breaches, and netizens have reported cases where the fine amounts remained same after the discount. The campaign attempts to provide some assistance to car owners who have outstanding traffic challans by encouraging them to pay their fines within the term specified.
