Hyderabad: BJP MPs from Nizamabad and Karimnagar — D. Sanjay and B. Sanjay Kumar — on Wednesday came down heavily on Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for getting arrested some 380 sarpanches of Jagtiyal District. They said the arrest of the sarpanches was nothing but muzzling the voice of democracy.
The BJP MPs have asked the Chief Minister as to how they have given cheque power to Upa Sarpanches instead of the village Sarpanchs. MP Sanjay asked the Jagtial district SP to change his attitude. He said it was not proper for a government servant to obey the orders of the ruling party. They also alleged that the State government was mounting pressure on the Sarpanches to complete the toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission and added it was arresting the Sarpanches, who were not listening to its orders.
