Telangana Braces for Heavy Rain as IMD Issues Alert for the Week

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for several districts of Telangana over the next three days. The forecast indicates rainfall ranging from 115 mm to 205 mm in some areas, with the possibility of widespread impact.

According to Telangana Today, heavy rainfall between 65 mm to 115 mm is also expected across many parts of the state. An orange alert has been issued for the northern districts, including Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Nizamabad, where very heavy rainfall is most likely.

Additionally, a heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Medak, and Kamareddy districts. Hyderabad and nearby areas like Medchal-Malkajgiri are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.

The IMD’s forecast for the week suggests persistent overcast conditions with intermittent spells of rain, thunder, and winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. Authorities have urged residents to take precautions, especially in low-lying areas prone to flooding. The MET department has also advised farmers to implement protective measures to shield their crops from damage due to excessive rainfall and moisture.
