Telangana: Cattle hostel to be opened in all villages to boost milk production

Vice-Chairman of the Telangana State Planning Board B Vinod Kumar informed that the state government planned to open cattle hostels in all villages to increase milk production and provide farmers with alternate and regular income streams.

On Tuesday, Vinod Kumar attended the inauguration of bulk milk cooling centers (BMCU) in Sundaragiri of Chigurumamidi mandal in Karimnagar district, Indranagar of Elkathurthy mandal, and Anthakkapet village of Akkannapet mandal in Siddipet district.

To meet the growing demand for milk in Telangana, he announced that cattle hostels would be established in all villages as part of launching the white revolution.

A cattle hostel would be opened to increase milk production, much like the sheep distribution scheme that increased sheep production in the state.

Announcing that Karimnagar Dairy is opening BMCUs in order to increase milk production for its new mega dairy project coming up in Thimmapur mandal with a capacity of 3 lakh liters, he said Anthakkapet BMCU would be the 30th in the integrated Karimnagar district and adjoining Siddipet, Kamareddy and Mancherial districts.

Having clarified that the Karimnagar dairy was not a private dairy and that it was owned by farmers in the cooperative sector, he said the dairy had emerged successful and had been rated as the best dairy in Telangana.

To fulfill the farmers’ plea for a Rs 4 per liter incentive, he assured to pay the incentive to the farmers of Karimnagar Dairy very soon.

In addition to encouraging farmers to start dairy units, he also advised them to consume milk for a healthy lifestyle. Karimnagar Dairy chairman Ch Rajeshwar Rao explained the plans for expanding the dairy activities and opening a mega dairy soon. He encouraged farmers to start dairy businesses as an alternative source of regular income.

Husnabad legislator V Satish Kumar was in attendance, as were Siddipet ZP vice chairman Raji Reddy, Sarpanch Lavanya, MPTC member Rajitha, Dairy MD P Shankar Reddy, Advisor V Hanumantha Reddy, directors, and others.
