Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will visit Union Water Resources Minister Gajendra Shekhawat in Delhi at 7 p.m. today, accompanied by State Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and senior officials from the Irrigation Department.
The meeting’s main agenda item is to present a petition requesting national recognition for the Palamuru Ranga Reddy irrigation project.
Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inaugurated the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, a key initiative to increase irrigation potential in upland areas of Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda districts. The program seeks to cover 10.00 lakh acres of ayacut, with a proposal for an expanded ayacut of 12.30 lakh acres under discussion.
The project, which includes drinking water provision to nearby communities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and industrial use, entails raising 2 TMC of water per day from the littoral of the Krishna River’s Srisailam Reservoir for 60 days during the flood season.
The government has already approved administrative funding for the Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme in the sum of Rs. 35,200 crores. The main conduit works are divided into 21 packages, with 18 now in progress. Furthermore, survey work for ayacut under reservoirs is divided into seven packages, with one package carried out by department workers and the others delegated to agencies.
The Telangana team is anticipated to discuss the project’s status and significance, as well as seek national recognition and support for its effective implementation.
