Hyderabad: Voice of depressed classes, civil liberties leader and fighter of separate Telangana State of 1967 Prof. Keshav Rao Jadhav passed away at a private hospital here this morning. He was 85.
Following some respiratory problems, Jadhav was admitted to Bristlecone Hospital on Friday and breathed his last this morning. Born in Hussaini Alam in the Old city on January 27, 1933, Jadhav played a key role in Telangana Armed Struggle, Non-Mulki Go Back agitation and 1967 Telangana agitation. He also actively participated in the second phase of separate State agitation. He worked as Telangana Jana Parishad convener. Jadhav had been arrested for 17 times for his active role in several agitations and spent two years in jail.

Hearing Jadhav’s demise, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao expressed his heartfelt condolences. The CM recalled his active role in t he achievement of Telangana statehood. He conveyed his deep condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Former Union minister and BJP senior leader Bandaru Dattatraya paid floral tributes to Keshav Rao Jadhav and expressed his condolences. In a condolence message, Dattatraya said Keshav Rao Jadhav, a prominent Socialist leader had strong convictions about Democracy and for that he was sent to jail during infamous Emergency. During 1968-69 separate Telangana movement, Keshav Rao Jadhav was in the fore front. Many times he was jailed for the cause of separate stir. Dattatraya demanded that the TRS government build a memorial in his name.
Several prominent people joined in paying respects to the department soul including senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy and Telangana Praja Samiti president Prof M Kodandaram. (NSS)
