Telangana Government Grants Revised Sanction for Gachibowli Flyover Project

In a significant move to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in Hyderabad’s IT hub, the Telangana government has granted a revised administrative sanction for the construction of a six-lane, two-way flyover at the Gachibowli junction. The project, which is a key part of the city’s master plan, also includes the development of a 120-foot-wide road from Shilpa Layout, Gachibowli, via the Gas Company, to the Gachibowli junction.

The flyover and road development project will be executed under the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, with an estimated cost of Rs 446.13 crore. This new sanction supersedes the earlier approved cost of Rs 435 crore, with an additional Rs 11.13 crore allocated to accommodate the revised requirements and specifications.

The initiative aims to address the growing traffic congestion in the Gachibowli area, which is one of the busiest zones in Hyderabad, especially due to its proximity to numerous IT companies, commercial establishments, and residential areas. By improving connectivity between the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and the Kondapur area, the project is expected to significantly reduce travel time and ease daily commutes for thousands of residents and office-goers.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been directed by the state government to take the necessary steps to ensure the efficient execution of the project, which is expected to boost infrastructure and support the growing demand for improved road networks in the city.

This revised project sanction comes at a time when Hyderabad is witnessing rapid urban growth, particularly in the IT sector, where Gachibowli and surrounding areas are major commercial hubs. With the flyover and new road network, the Telangana government hopes to enhance the city’s infrastructure, making it more accessible and efficient for commuters.

As the project progresses, it will play a crucial role in addressing long-standing traffic issues and support Hyderabad’s development as a modern and well-connected city.
