Telangana Govt failed to address our woes: Weavers JAC

Hyderabad: A delegation of Weavers United Joint Action Committee led by its Chairman Dasu Suresh today expressed displeasure that Telangana state failed to protect their interests. He urged chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to look into their just demands and provide job and employment opportunities. In a memorandum to chief secretary SK Joshi,  he said that Telangana was achieved after sacrifices of many people.

Talking to media persons at Secretariat here, he said that though the government has announced Rs 1,273 crore in the two budgets, no benefits reached their community so far. He expressed displeasure that many of the weavers schemes like yarn subsidy, membership thrift scheme, geo tagging, loan waivers etc., have failed to give better results. Kakatiya mega textile park is yet to take shape and promises are not yet kept in two years,  he said

Despite promise from Chief Minister and former minister KT Rama Rao there is no significant change in the lives of the weavers and handloom workers in the state. Suresh said that separate Telangana did not augur well with their lives for the past six years and injustice is being done.

Suresh further said that handloom stocks have piled up at warehouses of weavers societies and officials failed to make timely payments to them. He urged the chief minister to address their just issues.(NSS)
