Telangana Govt Pledges Major Development for Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University

The Telangana State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University (VCIWU), formerly known as Koti Women’s College, with a comprehensive plan to enhance its infrastructure and academic facilities. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, during his visit to the university, announced that the necessary funds would be allocated to transform VCIW into one of the country’s top institutions.

Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized that the restoration and preservation of the university’s heritage buildings would be carried out in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Key infrastructure developments will include the construction of new classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels for students, residential quarters for faculty and staff, a Vice-Chancellor’s office, a guest house, an auditorium, and administrative buildings.

During his visit, the Deputy Chief Minister personally inspected the locations designated for these new facilities and reviewed architectural models presented by engineering officials. He also examined the recently restored Darbar Hall, a significant heritage structure on the campus. While touring the site, he observed portraits of 57 British residents who served in Hyderabad between 1779 and 1947 and explored pictorial representations of the city’s political, cultural, and social history. Visitor manager Satish provided detailed insights into the historical significance of the former British Residency.

A power-point presentation was conducted by engineering officials in the presence of senior education department authorities, showcasing the proposed designs for the university’s infrastructure expansion. The presentation also highlighted plans for integrating the landscape with the heritage surroundings, ensuring the campus maintains its historical charm while embracing modernization.

Bhatti Vikramarka directed engineering officials to ensure that the newly constructed buildings would be legacy structures, reflecting the institution’s rich heritage while meeting future academic demands. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing world-class educational facilities for women in Telangana.

The review meeting was attended by key officials, including Principal Secretary of Education Yogita Rana, Commissioner of Technical Education Devsena, Joint Managing Director of Musi Riverfront Development Corporation Pujari Gouthami, Managing Director of Telangana Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation Ganapathi Reddy, University Vice Chancellor Professor Surya Dhananjay, Principal Dr.Lok Pavani, and other senior officials.

The Telangana government’s initiative to modernize and preserve VCIWU stands as a landmark step in empowering women through education and ensuring that the university remains a beacon of learning for generations to come.
