Telangana High Court Grants Interim Bail to Allu Arjun in Stampede Case

The Telangana High Court granted interim bail for 4 weeks to Telugu actor Allu Arjun, who was arrested in connection with a stampede at the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule, which led to the death of a woman, M Revathi, on December 4. The Court observed that there was no prima facie evidence to hold Arjun responsible for the incident, as he had attended the event after obtaining necessary permission.

Justice Juvvadi Sridevi rejected the prosecution’s argument that Arjun knew the crowd might get out of control, emphasizing that the actor was not responsible for the tragedy. The Court noted that the ingredients for charges under culpable homicide or causing grievous hurt were not established.

The stampede occurred at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, where Arjun was present. The police claimed they were not informed in advance about his attendance, which led to inadequate crowd control measures. However, Arjun’s counsel presented evidence that permission was granted for his attendance, refuting claims of negligence.

The actor, who was initially arrested and sent to judicial custody, was granted bail upon furnishing a ₹50,000 personal bond. He has been directed to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and refrain from influencing witnesses. The Court also granted bail to two other accused in the case, including the owner of Sandhya Theatre. The tragic incident has sparked public debate on responsibility and crowd management during high-profile events.
