Telangana has made a great achievement by collecting five ‘Green Apple Awards’ in the area of ‘International Beautiful Buildings’ in the Urban and Real Estate Sector. The Green Organisation, a non-profit organisation based in London, presents the awards to recognise excellence in many elements of building design and restoration.
Telangana’s award-winning structures include Mozam Jahi Market, which was recognised in the heritage category for its remarkable restoration and reuse. The Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge was recognised in the bridge category for its innovative design, while the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat Building was recognised for its artistically constructed office/workspace. The State Police Integrated Command Control Centre was recognised in the distinctive office category, and the Yadagirigutta Temple was recognised in the good religious structures category.
The awards event is slated for June 16 in London, and the State government has assigned Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development, to accept the accolades on Telangana’s behalf. This is the first time that Indian buildings or constructions have received the prestigious Green Apple awards.
The Green Organisation, founded in 1994, is dedicated to promoting environmental best practises all over the world. Their awards programme seeks to recognise and reward organisations and individuals who have made significant contributions to environmental sustainability.
