Even before the onset of peak summer, Telangana has recorded its highest-ever electricity demand, highlighting the increasing power needs of the state. On Thursday, the power demand surged to 15,752 megawatts (MW), surpassing the previous record of 15,623 MW set on March 8 last year.
Anticipating the growing energy consumption, the state government had taken proactive measures four months ago to ensure a steady and uninterrupted power supply. These steps were implemented to provide quality electricity to households, businesses, and industries without disruptions.
Officials expect the power demand to rise further, potentially exceeding 17,000 MW during the peak summer months from April to June. To tackle this surge, Telangana’s power distribution companies, Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) and Telangana State Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGNPDCL), have been working diligently to secure electricity through long-term agreements and power exchanges.

State authorities have assured consumers that all necessary preparations are in place to meet the rising demand without outages. They have also emphasized that measures such as infrastructure upgrades and efficient energy management will be prioritized to prevent any disruptions.
