On July 31, 2023, the Telangana Samaja Congress Party hosted a round table discussion on the theme of ‘BC Chief Minister and Opinions of Political Parties’ at the Gandhi Centenary Hall exhibition grounds in Nampally, Hyderabad.
The conference was presided over by Dosapally Narahari, who offered his agenda on the matter of having a Chief Minister from a backward class group.Dr. P. Vinay Kumar, founder president of the Telangana Samaja Congress Party, spoke out on the issue, declaring that the party is totally committed to having a backward class Chief Minister. He stressed that neither united Andhra Pradesh nor Telangana State had a Chief Minister from the backward class group in the previous 73 years. Dr. Vinay Kumar emphasized that only through having state power can BCs attain their rights, and that his party introduced a resolution on the day of its foundation to have a Chief Minister from the BC community. He highlighted earlier instances in which, despite BCs leading parties to victory, upper-caste politicians were given the Chief Minister’s seat.
Other political leaders who attended the meeting expressed support for a Chief Minister from a lower-income group. Prof. Kodandaram, President of Telangana Jana Samithi, and Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud, Working President of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee, both expressed support for the plan. Ale Bhaskar, the BJP OBC Cell State Convener, also supported having a Chief Minister from the BC community, encouraging all BCs to join in their battle for their rights.
The conference gathered together presidents of several political parties, social service workers, intellectuals, specialists, and academics to debate and express their views on the issue of having a Chief Minister from a lower-income group.
