The Telangana government’s initiative to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) education in government schools is steadily gaining momentum, with several districts already implementing the program. Aimed at enhancing logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and technical proficiency among students, the initiative is being rolled out in phases across various regions.
AI classes have been launched for students from Class 3 to Class 5, particularly in schools where both primary and high school students share the same campus. High school computer labs are being utilized to conduct these sessions, making optimal use of available resources. The phased expansion is expected to bring AI education to more schools across the state in the coming months.
The program has seen significant progress in the undivided Warangal district. In Mahabubabad, seven government schools have introduced AI classes in the first phase, while Warangal and Hanamkonda have launched the program in 11 and nine schools, respectively.

Jangaon district has also adopted AI education in five government schools, and Bhupalapalli has started classes in Gurrampet and Kataram mandals. In Mulugu, the initiative was inaugurated at the MPPS in Chalvai, Govindaraopet mandal, with further expansion planned in villages such as Palampet, Ramannagudam, Gurrevula, and Beerelli.
Despite the enthusiasm surrounding AI education, schools in remote Agency areas face challenges such as limited internet connectivity. However, authorities are actively working on solutions to address these issues and ensure the smooth implementation of the program.
District Education Officer (DEO) of Mahabubnagar, Ravinder Reddy, emphasized that introducing AI at the school level will empower students to make technological advancements. He highlighted that the initiative will not only strengthen programming skills but also provide foundational knowledge in data science, machine learning, and automation. Additionally, AI education is expected to improve creativity, teamwork, and communication skills among students.
With dedicated teacher training programs and continuous government support, AI education in Telangana schools is gaining traction as a transformative step toward preparing students for a technology-driven future. The initiative is set to shape the next generation of innovators, equipping them with essential skills to thrive in the digital era.
