Telangana Tops in Efficient Public Grievance Handling, Ranks First in Disposals and Redressa

Telangana has ranked first among other states and union territories in terms of efficiently handling public grievances. In May, the state had the shortest average shutdown time of only eight days for 2,524 disposals, claiming first place. Telangana also topped the rankings for states with fewer than 15,000 claims, with a public grievance redressal score of 72.49. With 49 fully resolved and 2,327 partially resolved cases, the state ranked fourth in terms of the biggest number of Action Taken Reports (ATRs) disposals.

These rankings were issued by the Centre’s Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances’ Centralised Public Grievances Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS). The system acts as an online platform for citizens to file service-delivery complaints, connecting them to various ministries and departments of the federal and state governments. Citizens can use a unique registration identifier to trace the development of their complaints, and they can also appeal if they are dissatisfied with the resolution supplied.

Uttar Pradesh topped the list of states with over 15,000 complains, followed by Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Sikkim took first place in the North East category, while Lakshadweep took first place among union territories in Group B. Overall, Telangana was the state with the quickest grievance redressal mechanism, having successfully processed 65,983 claims in May.
