The new vehicles are made by Toyota. The CM will travel in mine-proof Prado vehicles, while his security personnel and other staff will use bullet-proof SUVs.
For VIP security, Telangana Intelligence Security Wing (ISW) sleuths have purchased 10 new SUVs. There is also a possibility that some of these SUVs might be included in the convoy of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.
In a routine schedule, the government ordered 10 vehicles that were due for replacement. Approximately one and a half lakh km have been logged on the existing 10 vehicles, after which replacement is needed.
“New vehicles were purchased with the aim of protecting VIPs,” intelligence sources said. Two times in the last eight years, the Chief Minister’s fleet was replaced for trips around the state. Toyota is the maker of the newly purchased vehicles.
KCR asks government machinery to be alert during heavy rains
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the state is likely to experience heavy rains over the next couple of days. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao asked Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to alert district collectors.
As a result, the Chief Secretary conducted a teleconference with senior officials and district Collectors to inform them of the threat of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the State. His instructions were to ensure that there was no loss of human life.
Collectors were instructed by the Chief Secretary to make sure all district officials are available at headquarters at all times. It is important to identify low lying areas and prepare relief camps in advance.
All departments concerned must work closely with the Collectors to ensure that all preventive measures are taken and that no untoward incident occurs. A control room should be set up in the Collectorate, according to the Chief Secretary.
Heavy rain is expected, according to the IMD. A breach in irrigation tanks, roads and causeways are also possible,” he said.
In light of the spate of ponds, reservoirs, and tanks, the Chief Secretary advised officials to be on high alert and keep sandbags at the ready in case a breach occurs.
A teleconference was held with Disaster Management Secretary Rahul Bojja and other officials.
