Hyderabad: Tense moments were witnessed in the ongoing elections for MLCs under local body quota in Nalgonda district on Friday. Supporters of former minister and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Nalgonda MLA K. Bhopal Reddy raised slogans against each other when the two leaders came to the Clock Tower in the town.
While the supporters of Venkat reddy raised slogans in their leader’s favor, the supporters of MLA Bhupal Reddy raised slogans in his favor. Sensing trouble and violence, the police dispersed the two groups and paved the way for peaceful elections.
It may be noted here that Nalgonda MLA Bhupal Reddy had defeated Komatireddy Venkat Reddy from Nalgonda Assembly seat in the last year’s Assembly elections. However, the beleaguered leader bounced back with full might and won as MP from Bhongir MP seat in the recent elections. (NSS)
